Description/Title:
loosing. finding. the long red thread.

Process:
I try to edit my images as little as possible, and above all, enhance which ever quality initially catches my attention.

In this case the arcane, yet inert feeling of the scene was what I found attractive. Well, my whole stream could be museum images… This picture was taken with the phone native camera. Since the objects in the scene are so close, I blurred the image with the Magichour app, changing the saturation and contrast. Then went to Pixlromatic and used the alex filter. And went back to Magichour for some final adjustments in the light. And finally used the IG sierra filter, who is my best friend (how I survived before it existed, I surely don’t know). I am sorry I can not give numbers with this app. I often go back and forth between apps in an instinctual manner, and I have no set rule to go about it.

Bio:
I became curious about the IG world around Januray 2012. It has been mostly about looking at art and exploring the world through others’ eyes. I don’t think I have a peculiar style or objects I document, it could be anything… but, I like to believe I tend to wrap myself in scenes that have a dazed or foggy quality to them, as when one is falling asleep or waking up from a pleasant dream. I like to invite others to finish constructing what they are looking at. Words are included in the posts, words instilled by the imagery (or vice versa).

But the best of it all, are the exchanges with wonderful people from around the globe, and all the beautiful things they inject into their little screens.

DESCRIPTION: A friend of mine told me about this place that was full of giant driftwood and trees that were now part of the beach, so I took a little drive about four hours north, from Florida into Georgia. This location called Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island was well worth the drive and the speeding ticket I got on the way. I’ve never seen anything like it, kinda surreal. The whole area looked like a scene from a Tim Burton movie, who is someone I draw a lot of inspiration from artistically. This was one of many I photographed that day.

PROCESS:
I took the photo with 645 Pro using a iphone 4S. I use the “Q” mode setting, no film effects. There was a piece of another tree to the right that was unavoidable for the shot I wanted, no matter what angle I tried. So I had to remove it using Touch Retouch. Once that’s done I went into Camera+ and used the clarity feature and added the black and white filter then saved it. Next to Photo Forge 2 and slightly lowered the brightness and upped the contrast just a bit. I opened up the Pop! Cam feature in Photo Forge 2 and tapped the black white 1900 film and then used vignette number 4, saved it. Finished off with Tilt Shift Gen where I desaturated it to about 30, lowered the brightness to 48 and raised the contrast to 52, saved and that was it! I use a app called Big Photo to upsize most of my photos when I’m done also.

BIO:
In the words of Tom Waits, “brawler, bawler & bastard” born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. But these days I dwell in Orlando, Florida with my girl and our two dogs living the quiet life of a peaceful warrior with a camera phone. I’m kinda new to the mobile photography game, I started around august 2011 after discovering Instagram in the app store. Everything I shoot and edit, I do 100% iphone from beginning to end. I’m a contributor to the website wearejuxt.com, that promotes mobile photography and the stories behind the scenes of it. Urban exploration and abandoned places are my normal thing, but no matter the subject I usually keep it dark, detailed, moody and gritty. I consider myself more of a photographer then a digital artist, I try and preserve as much of the original photo as possible, without heavy apping. Blurring the lines between edited and minimal processing seems a better fit for me. I’m seeing this art form as the next step in the evolution of photography, I’m curious to see where it goes, but I’m very proud of what it has become so far.

TITLE : ‘Wingless Disparity’

DESCRIPTION: Feeling helpless, trying to fight a losing battle is hard…and now he’s at the end of his tether. What is a man to do? Work, look after his kids, wife, possessions, mortgage/bills and keeping up appearances, but most of all keeping track of his rights, dignity and pride in society under the watchful eye of us all. Sometimes falling apart in silence is all we manage to do under pressure.

PROCESS: Shot with iPhone4 using Hipstamatic Wonder Lens and W10 Film. Next put into Snapseed for straightening, cropping, BW and grunging. Image Blender next, where I superimposed the butterfly wings and blood splatter. I then used pixlromatic using ‘paper’ for the textured background and ‘blackfive’ frame. I had 2 similar images with wings etc that I then blended together to give the shadowed effect in the background and voila, end of process.

BIO: I started doing this type of art a few months ago after enjoying other peoples take on emotion portrayed in there photos. I then wanted to give it a go, always too frightened to receive backlash on my darkness. Instead, it was received well and viewers wanting more! In my photos I like to make an exaggerated play on emotions, be it dark, it seems to get the point across more quickly and easily, striking a chord on the viewers own inner feelings. They usually interpret it how ever they like and often i’m sharing deep conversations with IGer’s that I have now formed close friendships with! I enjoy my new found passion for mobile photography, it has taken my art to a whole other level.

Description:
This is the double exposure edit that i worked recently with my IG friends called #theworldinsideofus — I’ve always been interested in layering and double exposures. I love how they come out and their quality

Process:
Both of the shots was taken with Native Camera. I took the silhouette shot to exposing over the background. For the background i usually aim for landscape or textures.
Edit: Squareready to crop. Artstudio edit to B/W (The silhouette) adjust the brightness/contrast to make a clean background (white). Save!
Blender app to blend the silhouette with the background on the right. (Lighten - transparency 100%). Adjust the placement on the background. Save!
Back with Artstudio (Load the image) to make a new layer for lines and dots

Lastly, i used the Picfx (LightsFx) and Snapseed for the tones. This one started with vintage no.4, bringing down the Texture Strength to (-0). And Sharpen (+20). Then to Tune Image with saturation (+20), ambiance (+20), contrast (+5). Save and done

Bio: Born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia in the 80’s. I have a background in Graphic Design and Photography. Instagram lit a creative fire in me, it creates balance between both design and photography.

Title: America Rising

This image was originally done in Photoshop just after the 9/11 incident..
To mark the 10 year anniversary I wanted to freshen the idea and chose PS touch to recreate it.

Process: Key PS touch Features Used…

Magicwand selection tool to remove the background from the angel statues.
Clone tool to erase blemishes from the statues.
The Selected Pixels command to select “scratches” on one layer and then use that selection on the base layer to cut through the image.
The “add fade” tool to blend the angel layer smoothly into the building.
Unlocked Scale tool to asymmetrically scale angels to be less tall.
Blending modes to merge the lensflare into the sky using “screen” also used on angeles “overlay to make them feel moor integrated. And Multiply to add birds.
“add Gradient” to an empty layer to create vignette.
Adjustments I used Shadow/highlight to emphasize building geometry.
Added “sleepy hollow” photo effect.
Used layers to brighten the bench in the for ground.
Used clone stamp to remove man standing against the fence.

Bio: Dan Marcolina is the owner of Phila-based Marcolina Design Inc.
Having always used digital imagery as a corner stone of his design process along with shooting personal work in many traditional formats his images have appeared in many venues worldwide. Dan recently has found a perfect bridge between these two mediums, iPhoneography.
This new obsession has reinvigorated his love for both photography and visual experimentation, inspiring him to Author a recently publish book (Peachpit Press) and App (iTunes) series called iPhone Obsessed.

Description:
You often find the most stunning shots when you least expect them! This was taken upon arriving to a hippy drum-circle party this passed weekend.

Process:
I shot a few versions of this, I eventually wound up reversing my camera to get as #lowdownground as possible.

I used #snapseed to increase the structure and then tune color balance to bring out the warmer tones, along with increasing saturation, contrast and decreasing brightness by just a nudge.

I brought it into #picfx, I added Classic: Lush. I’m crazy about PicFX lately, it has to be my favorite filter app!

I then went into #vscocam and added filter number 5.

That’s it!

Bio:

I’m a web developer, cook, yogi, cyclist, etc from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I got into mobile photography only recently. I always had some interest in photography, but the iPhone made it too accessible to deny myself of the great pleasure. Once I started there was no going back, I’ve always liked walking down back alleys to check out graffiti and such, but this made me appreciate the world of textures that they possess.

Bio.
I am totally hooked on iPhoneography. My favorite subject is modern architecture, especially Mid-Century Modern. I live in the Atlanta Metro area, but travel to areas where modern architecture is dominant. I have to save more money so that I may expand my destinations-Ha. I discovered iPhoneography by stumbling upon SionFullana’s iPhoneography and was instantly intrigued. Hiswork and several iPhoneography blog sites legitimized mobile photography for me. Like others my firstphotography app was Hipstamatic, then several other apps, I have been shooting and experimenting since. MyiPhone is my favorite camera. Thanks to AMPt for your dedication to mobile photography.

Description :
Ok…about this picture… If you look at my feed, you will see streetphotography pictures and everyday life pictures with my family. This one was shot while in my car. I snap a lot of pictures in my car for my drivebyshooting project (you could see the project here : http://www.flickr.com/photos/el_mexicano/sets/72157627540046025/ )

Process :
I shoot this one with Hipstamatic, and I do the edit with picture show (color), then filterstorm (saturation, sharpening, brighting), and at last ScartchCam Fx texture and color.

Bio:
I started photography (really), in 2000, when I bought my first analog slr camera (a nikon). Many years later, I bought a canon 400D. And i decided to go back to the analog. I’ve got a lot of analog camera (Holga, nikon FM2n, Nikon FE2, Ricoh, kiev 60, etc…). And last year a friend of mine bought an Iphone. He showed me pictures he done with it, and I fell in love with it. No, I’m joking, but I was really impressed, so I decided to try it, and finally, I bought one. Now I always have it on me… Not just to call friends.

Title: Not so big city, not so bright lights.

Description:
I’ve always been pretty interested in skyscrapers and large cityscapes, but living in AK I don’t get to see them often. Sometimes on a rainy day, DTA (Downtown Anchorage) gives off a little bit of those big city vibes.

Process:
Start out in Snapseed, increase the brightness(65), the contrast(35), and the saturation(10). Then decrease the ambiance(65), and the white balance(2). Then I sharpen(10) and add some structure(5). Rotate left and save. Next app is PicFX. Apply the enhance filter at 50% strength. Save. Then back to Snapseed to change the orientation back to portrait. Save. Then I open it in VSCO Cam, add grain(1), vignette(1), and filter 4. Save. Lastly I open Square Ready for the crop. 🐨⛄

Bio:
Hello everybody! For those of you who haven’t Instamet me yet, my name’s Jovell. I’m a 20.07 year old guy living in Anchorage, Alaska. When I first started using Instagram, almost a year ago, I was all about finding dope photos from talented artists, and I wanted nothing to do with the social aspect of it. I didn’t want to chat, follow, or like. Just look. About two months ago (after a brief break from Instagram), something snapped and I realized how great mobile photography is. I wanted to push myself further, but I didn’t want to wash out the beauty of my state with filters and crazy edits. If you’ve been with my feed for a while, you know I break this promise to myself every now and then, haha, but it’s okay. End of the day, IG is about sharing fun moments, arguing about Pokémon, and meeting new people. I’m having a ton of fun doing that, and the fact that people actually dig my photos is just a bonus.
